1st wk of sch just passed

very quickly one wk of sch has just passed. it was a fine wk i believe, cuz i managed to do all my readings before and after the lectures. and i am now clearing next wk's pre-readings too :P

there were floorball trainings which were fun :P and later i am going to watch the girls play floorball :P next sunday would be our turn to play, and i believe that would be the last time of this academic year that i would be playing floorball... sounds sad, but i can play again in the next academic year, provided i manage to stay in hall next yr :P

the 1st 2 wks of school are usually quite free, so i am trying to make use of these 2 weeks to build up momentum so that when the 3rd wk comes, with labs and tutorials coming in, i can cope with ease :P it's all about time management and momentum :P
hope my momentum can last for 4 full months and it will be holidays again lols.

hmm, friday of the 1st wk was rather nice, cuz i managed to taste food that was cooked by my dear :p is nice nice :P hahaha. i miss the black peppered mussels. oops, my stomach is growling now lols. most of the day was spent in sch due to my late lecture at 4pm... but of course nite was enjoyable :P though towards the end at around 12 plus when i was sending dear home, i almost couldn't take it le, i still managed to reach home without falling asleep :P but upon reaching home, after checking some mail and stuff, i just fell asleep while watching nba highlights lols. this showed how tired i was lols.

my mum said i am always super tired after a wk of school... think this is rather true, cuz i always sleep a lot during the weekends, be it the main sleep or frequent naps on the sofa lols. i guess that's because i sleep only 7-8 hours during school, or even lesser when things get pretty busy like last sem... shall try to keep to 7.5 to 8 hours a day :P

ok it's 10 am liao, time to wash up, have some food then prepare to go back to hall le :P

school starts tomolo

very quickly, the school vacation is over. somehow vacations always pass very quickly for me :P tomorrow would be the start of a new semester, which is expected to be rather busy, even though i am still taking 5 modules...

had wanted to take 6 modules, but considering that i had not done as well as expected, i want to up my CAP this sem, so i have decided to stick with 5 modules. this also means that i would be doing 5 modules worth of workload each sem up till yr 4 sem 1. well ok lah, i prefer consistent work, rather than chiong-ing now and get sub-par grades, then slacking in upper years to find out that u can't do much to up the CAP.

going to make more effort in each module i have this coming sem. that is i will try to pre-read the lecture notes before going to lectures, so that i can better absorb the materials during lectures. i think this would result in more efficient learning. i haven't been able to do it due to laziness. i think i did some pre-reading in yr 1 sem 1, i think that can explain my perfect grades and without much difficulty in time management too. all in all, i think efficient learning is the key to good grades in uni, especially for pple who have commitments to hall, to r/s, like me :P

it will be another grueling 4 months. better time management and more efficient learning would be my goal this semester. and naturally it would lead to better grades with lesser difficulty and stress :P

reflecting on 2007 and looking forward in 2008

haha, now is 2008, and before it gets too late, i better reflect on 2007. hmm, basically i can't remember many trivial matters that happened in 2007, being a forgetful person...need some things to trigger those memories lols. since i can't remember, i might as well dun talk and think abot them lols. but i guess the 2nd half of 2007 would be rather fresh in my mind lols, cuz a lot of things happened, including getting together with my dear :P

go by "chronological" order (not accurate lols) would be a good idea, lazy to arrange all my thoughts lols.
hmm...
1) engin orientation week was fun :p met a bunch of fun pple and my dear :)

2) test of time management when 2 projects (digital design and database systems) were coming at me

3) further test of time management when RH cultural comm commitment comes hard at me

4) small performance with CME, a test of blending 二胡 and western instruments :)

5) floorball trainings, fun but tiring :)

6) set-up of IHG website, seemed daunting at first, but i managed to clear it without much help. an outside-of-academic application of SQL + database knowledge i have learnt :p

7) acknowledge dear's presence to my parents :P it was hard to open mouth, but some external motivation pushed me to do so :p

8) many life lessons in my relationship with dear :P

9) arranged caroling for RH, which included lots of logistics, lots of emails here and there, lots of callings; tiring but fulfilling when everything was all in order :)

10) drop of cap again :( this time my SAP was just 4.6...

it was rather disappointing, cuz i expected at least a 4.8. i dunno what happened, i guessed competition was just too tight...

got A+ for EE2006 and GEK1505. nothing to say about them, cuz i knew i aced them.

A- for CS2102, I guessed my mid term test wasn't good enough to place me in the top
10% to get an A, resulting in this sub-par result.

A- for EE2005, i still dunno why. cuz i really thought i aced the final paper which is 80%. i knew how to do all the questions, and i doubt there is any serious careless mistake. i have requested for a review, though i do not place much hope on this.

B+ for EE2009. My first B+ in NUS... rather shocked when i saw the grade, expected at least an A- for this module... i guess my answers weren't what they want ba. maybe they wanted more qualitative answers. maybe they wanted better derivation of formulae. maybe my answers weren't good enough. this module requires rather broad knowledge of signals, as well as a different approach compared to the other modules we are used to. i shall just take this as a lesson, cuz i didn't really make that much effort for this module.

new yr resolutions for 2008:
1) better control of my finance :P it has gone a bit out of control recently :(

2) improve my CAP :p hope i can achieve SAP 5.0 in this coming semester
- better time management
- more efficient studying
- no procrastination
- continue to be confident :p

3) further lasting+loving+fun relationship with dear :P

4) work towards a wonderful RH Phoenix Fest :P

5) improve my fitness by going for runs more regularly, be it with dear or with other friends :)

6) Chiong for anything i do :) this is the most impt thing i guess haha.

okie, i think that's all, if there are further more resolutions that i need to make, i guess they can all be included in the 6th resolution: CHIONG!
