phoenix fest after-thoughts

got criticised by someone on her blog. well, it was quite hurting to see these kind of comments made. she has her points but she does not really see the efforts made behind the scenes, so i dun really blame her, but i wan to clarify on some stuff.

firstly, i apologise for sunday's rehearsal. it was rather disorganised. i didn't really plan the flow, as in i didn't expect pple to be so slow up and down the stage. i didn't expect pple to be so not cooperative in terms of timings. but i dun blame them, it was my fault not to tell them the tightness of the timings to be met.

next, i wan to clarify that it's not that i wun tell you all the plans for the transitions and holding area stuff, it's that u all ask before i told u. i see no need to have the holding area and stuff on sunday, cuz everything would just go out of the plan. i was planning to tell u all at the end of the briefing. well, maybe it's my fault not to say this as early as before the first rehearsal. i guess my intention not to flood you all with information and stuff is wrong.

no, the wet weather program was planned long ago, it's definitely not last minute when i see rain then i panicked and made this kind of decision. really feel accused for this.

really, we had no choice but to move to comm hall on monday for rehearsal. i know u all see no sense in it i also. but then, sunday's tech settings were not recorded. and there's a high chance it's going to rain on tuesday, so i decided to go ahead with a rehearsal on monday. if sunday's tech settings were alrite, i would just cancel the full runs and just do a sequence run in the comm hall, but that's certainly not the case. seeing no sense in checking sounds in comm hall if we gg to do in takraw court, i boldly raise the idea of having it in comm hall to shu ann... and in the end i still get arrows shot at me, asking me why did i come up with tat decision, pressuring me to revert my decision. i am just a like a meat inside a hamburger kanna kiap.

i also dun like the phrase "see how the weather goes". it's simply not my way of doing things, but i have to appease both sides of reasons. if i can make decisions independently, i would just go with comm hall, and stick with it, and that was my plan after we moved to comm hall... but somehow seniors don't agree with me...

talking about quality, i guess it's more impt to have sound checks done properly in comm hall since we are most probably having the event in comm hall, and not sacrificing it for the so-called full runs that have everyone rushing up and down just like a performance. time is a factor, we have no more time. so i can't do it. u may say that i should have rehearsals earlier, but then would u all come down? u all would just say so many rehearsals for such an internal event, again i got pressures from the bottom and the top... so i betted that we would have the transitions done quite ok, given that most of u out there are regular performers. so i am not compromising quality, instead i am ensuring that sound quality would be good for the audience. hence, it's definitely contradicting for her to say that i am compromising quality when i am not doing the full run just like the actual performance on monday nite.

ok, this is the first time i am organising such an event, and i admit there were some areas that i failed to look into. well, i guess this is a learning experience for me. i am not to deny any mistakes that i have made but i wan to ask for forgivness for everything that i have done wrong.

really this is a job that is 吃力不讨好. my pple are simply not reliable except for some. my comm is not those kind of comm pple fight to come in, they are thrown into this comm. what can i do? i can only suck thumb and try to use these pple. well, i cannot blame anyone but how things go about in this hall...

alright, i really respect her professionalism, and indeed i was rather impressed with her band, i think they were the best performance. they wore outfits that were really formal, and i am grateful for that. but i hope she respects the organising comm as well, cuz things dun just come about in a minute or so. she doesn't know what kind of planning has been done by me, what kind of small small things i have to take care of before the whole thing. she only sees the surface, so it's rather unfair for her to just say that this whole event was totally disorganised. ok, i wun blame her for that, i would just treat it as her ignorance to what me and my pple do behind the scenes.

lastly, if this is rhazz, i dun think it would be so cocked up. i would be planning so many rehearsals that u all may think i am crazy. this phoenix fest, i really dun have much time buffer to engage with so many impromptu situations. well i am sorry about that, but i guess i did my best as a first timer. well, hope i wun be involved directly in the rhazz next yr, at most as advisor, really organising committee is really not a nice job, cuz all the criticisms, constructive, non-constructive, would just come at us.

a lil sian

feeling a lil bored, so i decided to blog lols.

phoenix fest was successfully held on tuesday, 11 march. preparations were quite hectic then. cuz got many areas of matters to take care of. and i am almost the only one taking care of this and that... well a form of training but not quite a good time to have that kind of trg. but anyway i am glad that it is over. there is a slight regret, that is we couldn't have it done on takraw court, cuz it was raining both on mon's rehearsal and tue's actual performance. well i guess it's just too bad :P

ok, coming are 2 heavy projects with lots of coding. ee2007 and cs2103. it's going to be a hectic schedule ahead... with brain cells killed like nobody's business... and fna1002x project which is almost half done, but the other half is not easy i guess...

well sian... a bit sian... haiz...
