public transport?

was reading stomp articles, and saw an article abt overcrowding buses esp during peak hours. this problem was present since long long ago.

i rmb i had to squeeze up the buses when i took bus back home from school like around 6 plus. i could even miss buses. the govt keeps encouraging us to take public transport, but it hasn't realised that there are so many factors keeping us away from buses. yet, it is making things difficult for pple driving. indirectly, it would be making the problem of overcrowding buses worse.

i guess the govt can make the bus companies increase the frequencies esp during peak hours. but it seems like they didn't. one of the reasons i can think of is that they don't even know the crux of the problem. they dun even take any public transport. they are chauffeured around. they are really only 纸上谈兵.

i dunno when the govt would even realise this. maybe they have realized the problem. maybe they are just simply helpless in controlling the bus companies. singapore's bus companies are profit-first. they simply do not care about the commuters' welfare. i guess it is only when some accidents happen due to overcrowding, and cause some noise among the public, then they will do something about it. i guess this is quite a common sequence of events in singapore.

also, i just realise that bus companies do not get fined for having overcrowded buses, unlike taxis! is there a conspiracy? maybe not, cuz conspiracy is too heavy a word to use. i guess maybe there isn't a clause in the traffic rules that traffic police has to follow. by having fines, i guess this is the best way to solve this kinda problem in singapore. singaporeans, and singaporean companies, are just scared of fines. this is the culture inculcated by the early govt, that is to scare our pple, scare the companies, to prevent them from doing something that is wrong, or deemed to be wrong by our govt leaders.

ok, enough of rambling :P
